OK here goes girlies: 300g plain flour, 150g butter, 125g dark soft brown sugar, 200g golden syrup, 200g black treacle, 3 tsp fresh grated ginger, 250ml milk, 2 eggs, large & beaten, 1 tsp bicarb of soda, 1tsp gound cinnamon.
Melt the butter with the sugar, ginger, syrup and treacle (in a bowl in microwave is easiest). Then add the milk, eggs and cinnamon, mix. Mix the bicarb with a tablespoon or 2 of warm water and add it to the wet ingredients. Whisk together, add the flour and whisk again. It'll be more like a batter than a stodgy cake mix. Pour into a lined baking tray, about 25x25cm (I use a brownie tray) and put in the oven at 170C/Gas 3 for about 1 hour until the top is firm. Leave to cool then remove it from the tray. Make the icing with the juice from about half a lemon, 182g icing sugar and a bit of warm water, mix til nice and thick, then spread all over the cake mix.
Don't cut it til the icing has set or it'll go all wrinkly.
Then eat! x

Re: What did you have today?
I had a tuna roll, three milk chocolate hob nobs and a cup of tea. Well, I did have a cup of tea until the hob nobs drained it all away *angry face here*
It was still a bloody amazing lunch though!

Re: What did you have today?
I'm really excited because I have tomorrow morning off college so me and my mate are going to this nearby cafe to have a full english breakfast each. I'm going to have EVERYTHING apart from beans, black pudding, eggs and them soggy tomatoes.
Is it sad that I am actually excited and plan on having an early night to pass the time between now and then?
Maybe that's what I should get for christmas: a life, wrapped daintily in fancy wrapping paper with a big shiny bow. Sounds about right.

Re: What did you have today?
It was amazing! Everything I expected and more! It was like a mouth orgasm! Sorry that's a really crappy way to describe what it tasted like, but it was lovely and fried and greasy and the tea was good too.
Looking back though, I didn't have much of a full english, cos I asked them to leave a load of stuff out. It was a great way to start the day though!
